The last and best on the list is the latest India captain Shubman Gill. During the nine matches he played in 2025, the Fazilka-born accounted for a mind-boggling tally of 983 runs at a fabulous average of 70.21. During his first-ever innings as captain, Gill made a brilliant 147 at the Leeds, and when the Birmingham Test came, he became a showstopper for his 269 and 161 in the first and second innings, respectively.

By now, everyone was already in awe of Shubman's abilities to bat overseas, but he just wasn't done yet, collecting his fourth big score of the year in Manchester. When it came to his first home assignment as the skipper, Gill made a fifty in the Ahmedabad tie, but New Delhi got him his fifth hundred of the year, also becoming the batter with most centuries in 2025.
