Gary Kirsten - MS Dhoni

Gary Kirsten joined as India’s head coach in 2008 and formed a calm, balanced, and highly effective partnership with MS Dhoni. Their tenure was marked by unity and exceptional success as India won a Test and ODI series in New Zealand after 40 years, claimed a bilateral series win in Sri Lanka for the first time, and topped the ICC Test rankings in 2009.
The crowning glory came in 2011, when India won the ICC ODI World Cup by defeating Sri Lanka in the final at Wankhede Stadium. In a heartwarming gesture, players lifted Kirsten on their shoulders during the victory lap. Dhoni described Kirsten as the best thing to happen to Indian cricket.
