2. Mayank Agarwal

Last month, Mayank Agarwal was excluded from the retention list of Punjab after his disappointing previous season. Considering his experience and skills, the franchise appointed him their captain. As a skipper, Agarwal looked out of colours as he failed to take the team to the playoffs. The captaincy took a toll on him as he failed as an opening batter too with only 196 runs in 13 games, at a dismal strike rate of 122.50.

However, at the mini-auction 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) picked him up at INR 8.25 crore. The franchise fought with Royal Challengers Bangalore RCB), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) to sign him for the next edition. The 31-year-old has immense experience in the IPL. In the past, he served Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC), Rising Pune Supergiants, and Punjab Kings (PBKS) as their opening batter.

Next season, banking on his credible batting skills, SRH are expected to assign him the role of their opening batter. Mayank will strengthen the batting line-up of SRH with other big names Heinrich Klaasen, Harry Brook, Aiden Markram, and Rahul Tripathi.
