IPL 2024: 5 players to watch out for during MI vs GT matches

Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Mumbai Indians (MI) struggled to play quality cricket under Rohit Sharma in the 2023 season. Witnessing the side’s underwhelming performance in the season, the MI team management took the tough call of replacing Rohit Sharma from captaincy with Hardik Pandya, who guided Gujarat Titans (GT) to their maiden title win in 2022.

After Pandya’s exit, GT have appointed young Shubman Gill as their captain. Following the change of guard in both teams, eyes will be set on the game between Mumbai and Gujarat to be played on March 24, at the Narendra Modi Stadium. 5. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma failed to be impactful in the last two IPL seasons but his current form will cheer up MI fans. In the last six months, he has batted with an aggressive approach which has helped him against several bowlers. Playing his last T20 International (T20I) against Afghanistan, he hit a magnificent ton and recorded his best score in the format.

Earlier, he looked stunning with the bat in the 2023 World Cup, notching up 597 runs in 11 matches at a notable strike rate of 125.94. Against GT in Ahmedabad, he will look to play an effective knock and deliver a fierce start to the side.
