2. Matthew Short
Matthew Short was picked by the Punjab Kings in the 2023 edition of the IPL. He played six matches, scoring 117 runs at a strike rate of 127.17. However, the all-rounder was released by the franchise after the season. In the IPL 2024 auction, he found no takers, despite having a base price of INR 50 lakh, which wasn't too high for someone who can also bowl handy off-spin apart from tonking the ball at will.
In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Short tried his luck once again, opting to set his base price at INR 75 lakhs. However, no team placed a bid for the Aussie cricketer during the auction. Short has been a regular in the Australian T20 side of late. With not too many high-profile picks available at the mini auction, the 30-year-old seems well on course to make a comeback to the league.
