Other than the competition itself, a World Cup is like a mega carnival of the sport. T20 World Cup in Australia will be no different. While the upcoming tournament could see many records getting broken and new players coming to the fore, the culmination of the event might see some of the legends bid adieu to the sport.

Be it because of their form or fitness, there are five cricketers who might retire post the T20 World Cup. Now, speculations of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from the format did rise but nothing can be said for sure and being at the top of the game, there’s hardly a reason for them to take that decision. So, who are the five cricketers who might call time on their T20I careers post the mega tournament? Without further ado, let’s jump straight into it -

5 Players who might retire from T20Is after T20 World Cup 2022

5. Mohammad Nabi

The Afghanistan captain, Mohammad Nabi is very likely to announce his retirement from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2022. The all-rounder has been an integral member of Afghanistan’s rise in world cricket and thus, it will be an emotional moment for the fans to say goodbye to one of the legends of the game.

Popularly known as the President, Nabi has played a total of 101 T20I matches as of now. At a strike rate of 140.37, Nabi scored 1669 in the format and also has 83 wickets to his name. With an economy of 7.30, he has been excellent for the team over the years.

Even though he currently is the number one all-rounder in the ICC’s Men’s All-rounder Ranking, there has been a dip in his form. Nabi was below average in the recently concluded Asia Cup. With new talents coming into the squad, the 37-year-old might leave his spot and give the youngsters a chance before the next T20 World Cup in 2024. Meanwhile, the all-rounder might continue to play franchise cricket all over the world.
