3. Faf Du Plessis

Faf du Plessis has been a run-machine in the T20 circuit. He has piled on heaps of runs in the T20 tournaments around the world and did the same in this year’s IPL. The veteran batter was given the leadership duties of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2022 season and the 38-year-old led the way with the bat scoring 468 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 127.52.

Du Plessis was solid as a rock for RCB and shepherded the innings beautifully. His stay at the crease allowed stroke-makers around him to play freely. However, the prolific showing did not open the doors for the former South African skipper to enter the national squad for the T20 extravaganza.

The Pretoria born has not been included in the Proteas white-ball format ever since he retired from Test cricket last year. Du Plessis in the ongoing CPL as well has been in top form and has amassed 332 runs in nine games so far for St Lucia Kings at a strike rate of 168.53. It is unfortunate that a player of such caliber will miss the global event.
