4. Australia- 6/10
Like Pakistan, hosts and defending champions Australia have solid line up filled with brute pace. Mitchell Starc, the leader of the pack, was dispatched for a couple of maximums in his four over, giving away 36 runs against New Zealand.
However, it was not just him, the others in the line-up were just as poor as Starc. Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins together gave away 87 runs in their four overs that proved to be a very costly affair for the side in terms of net run rate later on.
The underwhelming performance with the ball continued against Sri Lanka when the side were strong in the initial couple of overs. However subsequently, the Lankan batters decided to attack a few bowlers and set up a competitive total. The Australians will need to get back to the drawing boards and figure out a way to use their conditions to their advantage in the forthcoming fixtures.
