In an exclusive interaction with CricTracker, Australian batter Chris Lynn shared his predictions for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Lynn offered his picks for the tournament favourites, top batting and bowling performers, the four semi-finalists, and the eventual finalists of the 20-team competition.

Chris Lynn’s predictions for T20 World Cup 2026

Most Runs - Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav had a forgettable time with the bat in T20I cricket last year. However, he returned to form during the five-match T20I series against New Zealand last month. The Indian skipper has played 105 T20Is, scoring 3114 runs at an average of 37.98 and a strike rate of 165.64/

In India's first game in the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar smashed a crucial half-century against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The right-handed batter will want to go from strength to strength from here on. Lynn named him as his pick for the highest run-getter in the tournament.

Most Wickets - Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada has not been in great form in the shortest format in recent years. However, Lynn backed him to finish with the most wickets in the tournament. In 2025, Rabada played five T20Is, in which he picked up six wickets but conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.18.

The 30-year-old gave away 40 runs and picked up a solitary wicket in the four overs he bowled in South Africa's opening match of the T20 World Cup against Canada. Rabada will want to bank on his experience and hit his straps as the tournament goes on.

Lynn predicted that Suryakumar Yadav would win the Player of the Tournament award. He came into the World Cup after being adjudged Player of the Series against New Zealand. The Mumbai batter recently surpassed Virat Kohli by winning his 17th Player of the Match award in T20Is, which is a testament to his consistency and match-winning skills.

Four Semifinalists: India, Australia, England, New Zealand

Lynn picked India, Australia, England, and New Zealand as the four teams that will make it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. India won the previous edition of the T20 World Cup in 2024, while England emerged victorious in the one before it in 2022. Australia won the T20 World Cup in 2021, beating the Kiwis in the final. New Zealand are the only team on this list who have not won the title so far.

According to Lynn, Mitchell Marsh-led Australia will win the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup. If this prediction turns out to be true, Australia would join India, England, and the West Indies as teams with two T20 World Cup titles to their name.

Lynn believes that Harry Brook's England will play Australia in the summit clash but end up on the losing side. The Three Lions had a nervous start to their campaign, as they defeated a spirited Nepal side by just four runs.
