South Africa's seam-bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been handed a demerit point for the send-off he gave to Ben Dwarshuis during the second T20I against Australia on Tuesday, August 12, at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.
The unpleasant incident took place in the 17th over of the second innings. Bosch got the better of Dwarshuis with the fifth ball of the over. The former subsequently gestured towards the dugout-an action deemed likely to elicit a confrontational response from the batter.
Bosch admitted the offence and accepted the sanction issued by match referee Andy Pycroft, thus avoiding the need for a formal hearing. The charge was initially levelled by on-field umpires Phillip Gillespie and Shawn Craig, with third umpire Sam Nogajski and fourth umpire Donovan Koch lending support.
According to the ICC's inference, Bosch had breached Article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which prohibits "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match." As this was Bosch's first offence within 24 months, he was only given a solitary demerit point.
While Bosch was in the wrong on disciplinary grounds, he bowled a brilliant spell in the second T20I against Australia. The 30-year-old picked up the wickets of Mitchell Marsh, Adam Zampa, and Dwarshuis to finish with figures of 3/20 in three overs. South Africa bowled out Australia for 165 in 17.4 overs, winning the match by 53 runs to square the series at 1-1, with the third and final T20I set to be played at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns on Saturday, August 16.

Earlier in the clash, Dewald Brevis slammed his maiden international century, scoring an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls to help South Africa get to 218/7 in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Brevis belted 12 fours and eight sixes in his exemplary innings.
