India's wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh was one of the best performers for the Women in Blue in the recently concluded Women's World Cup 2025. She will be felicitated by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) with a specially crafted gold-plated bat and ball at Eden Gardens. A grand felicitation ceremony at the iconic venue will be held on Saturday, November 8, in recognition of her exemplary showing at the Women’s World Cup.
During the marquee event, Richa amassed 235 runs in eight innings at an average of 39.16 and a strike rate of 133.52. Her power hitting was top-notch as she belted the most sixes (12) by a player during the tournament. She also equalled Deandra Dottin's record for the most sixes in a single edition of the Women's World Cup.
The gold-plated bat and ball, signed by former India skipper Sourav Ganguly and legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami, will be gifted to her as a token of appreciation for her “outstanding achievements and invaluable contribution to Indian cricket.”
CAB president Ganguly said that it is a matter of immense pride for the association to honour the Bengal cricketer who has brought tremendous prestige to both Bengal and India with her gallant exploits.
"Richa has shown remarkable talent, composure, and fighting spirit on the world stage. Honouring her with this gold bat and ball is a small token of our recognition for her extraordinary contribution to Indian cricket. She is an inspiration for every young cricketer in Bengal and across the country,” Ganguly stated in a release.
Two of her best performances in the tournament came against South Africa. In the league phase, she slammed 94 off 77 balls against Laura Wolvaardt and Co. The 22-year-old followed it up with a crucial 24-ball 34 in the final versus the same opposition.
