The fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to begin on Friday, January 9, with the opening clash between the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has lined up a star-studded opening ceremony for WPL 2026, with popular singer Yo Yo Honey Singh and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez headlining the event.

The WPL 2026 opening ceremony will take place at the iconic Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin around 6:30 PM IST, with live performances commencing at 6:45 PM, ahead of the first ball being bowled at 7:30 PM IST. Music sensation Yo Yo Honey Singh is set to bring his high-energy to the stage, while Jacqueline Fernandez will deliver a dance performance. Furthermore, Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu is also expected to make a special appearance.

Fans can watch the opening ceremony live on the Star Sports Network, while live streaming will be available on the JioCinema app and website. International viewers can tune in via regional broadcasters. Following the ceremony, attention will shift to the on-field action as Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians, the most successful team in WPL history with two titles, take on Smriti Mandhana’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who lifted their maiden title in 2024. The opening leg of the tournament will be held in Navi Mumbai, before the league moves to Vadodara, which will also host the knockout matches and the final on February 5.
