Australia continue to maintain a strong grip on the ongoing third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the performance of veteran spinner Nathan Lyon has been integral for the visitors as India were bundled out for 163 runs in the second innings and have given a target of 76 runs for the visitors to chase.

Lyon was once again sensational as the 35-year-old took eight wickets and gave away 64 runs in the process. He also broke the record for taking most five-wicket hauls against India, as this was the ninth time that Lyon took a fifer and wreaked havoc on the Indian batting line-up.

Lyon’s fifer saw him overtake legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who had eight five-wicket hauls against India to his name. He also broke Anil Kumble’s record for most wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Relentless bowling attack of Australia prove to be too much to handle for India

Despite an improved performance in the second innings as compared to the first, India only managed to score 163 runs in the second innings. After the early dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara stepped up for his side when they needed him the most.

Pujara played a sensational knock of 59 runs to give India a chance in the game. Shreyas Iyer looked to be in good rhythm, but he was dismissed after a fabulous catch by Usman Khawaja. As Day 3 approaches, Australia need 76 runs to win the third Test against India.

The bowling line-up of the hosts will have to come through and thrive under pressure if they want anything out of the game. Once again, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will have to showcase some of their best bowling as they are India's best bet.

India have already retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and need one more win to qualify for the finals (or else they'll have to rely on other results) of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. The final will be played at The Oval from June 7.
