India managed to overcome what seemed insurmountable odds at the 1983 World Cup and bagged the title by beating two-time defending champions West Indies by 43 runs in the finals at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground. 40 years later, India's cricket board - the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is the richest among its counterparts in the world. India's process of being a superpower in the cricketing world began with the 1983 World Cup triumph as the event managed to inspire the nation.
One of the members of the history-making side, Kirti Azad, shared a video on his Twitter handle on Sunday, where he and his erstwhile teammates were travelling in an aircraft 35,000 feet in the air. In the caption, he wrote:

The former cricketers were making their way to be a part of Adani Group’s ‘Jeetenge Hum’ campaign. The said campaign has the motive to unite fans and urge them to celebrate the past heroes of the Indian side and support the ones currently playing for the nation. With the 2023 ODI World Cup set to be played in India in October-November, fans' support will be imperative as they are the 12th men of the team, who will spur the players on, especially in difficult situations.
We are honoured to unite with the Adani Group in rallying team India for the ODI World Cup 2023: Kapil Dev
Kapil Dev presented Gautam Adani with a special bat that had signatures from the 1983 World Cup team. This bat will be handed over to the Indian team that will play in the 2023 ODI World Cup, as it will be a good source of inspiration for the current players.
Captain of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, Kapil Dev, shared his words of wisdom pertaining to the upcoming edition of the showpiece event of the 50-over format.
“We are honoured to unite with the Adani Group in rallying Team India for the ODI World Cup 2023. This campaign symbolizes the excitement and the indomitable spirit that propelled us to victory in 1983. In preparation for the World Cup 2023, it is imperative for the team to foster a collective mindset that centres on wholeheartedly committing to giving their absolute best. The true measure of success lies not solely in the outcome, but in the unwavering dedication to the relentless pursuit of personal excellence," Kapil was quoted as saying by News18 CricketNext.
An integral part of Kapil Dev's squad, and current BCCI President, Roger Binny, voiced his confidence in the current Indian team.
“Being part of the 1983 World Cup-winning team was an incredible journey filled with determination and team spirit. Together, we believe in the potential of our current players to bring back the coveted trophy. Let’s unite as fans and inspire them to create history!"
