Gujarat Titans went to Lucknow to play the Lucknow Super Giants in the 21st game of IPL 2024. KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bat first and went in with the same team that won against RCB earlier this week. Gujarat Titans came into the game on the back of their close loss to PBKS.
Gujarat Titans handed the debut cap to BR Sharath while Spencer Johnson came in for Azmatullah Omarzai. Marcus Stoinis scored his first fifty of IPL 2024 to top score with 58 runs to help LSG reach 163/5 from their allotted 20 overs.
Gujarat Titans: 50 runs in 5.2 overs
Shubman Gill found a new opening partner in Sai Sudharsan and the young batters mixed caution with aggression. The fifty came in the 2nd ball of the 5th with a four off the bat of Gill. The Gujarat Titans skipper seemed to be struggling for timing as he was slow with his scoring.
Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 and 1st Strategic Time-out (Mandatory – 54/1)
Yash Thakur got the first wicket for LSG when his searing Yorker breached the defence of Gill at 19. It was a timely wicket for the hosts as the GT openers were running away with the game.

Gujarat Titans: Second Strategic Time-out (92/5 from 14 overs)
After getting a blistering start, Gujarat Titans were cut to size by the LSG spinners. Krunal Pandya picked 3 scalps while Ravi Bishnoi got one as the Titans seemed in a huge spot of bother. Gujarat Titans had lost their five wickets for just 26 runs on the board.
Gujarat Titans: 100 runs from 15.4 overs
It was a shambolic batting display by the Titans as they had lost 7 wickets even before scoring 100 runs. The three-figure mark came when Rahul Tewatia scored two runs against Naveen-ul-Haq.
End of the match: Gujarat Titans: 130 all out in 18.5 overs.
Yash Thakur was the hero with the ball as he picked 5/30 from 3.5 overs to ensure a 33-run win for LSG. It was also a historic win as Lucknow have now registered their first-ever win against their fellow IPL debutants from the 2022 season.
