In the post-match conference of the 52nd match of the IPL 2025 between RCB and CSK, Stephen Fleming opened up on Dewald Brevis and Ravindra Jadeja's delayed DRS call. The CSK Head Coach gave his perspective and did not speak on behalf of Brevis and Jadeja.

Fleming claimed it to be a big moment that potentially changed the match. Fleming addressed that the focus of the batters was on the ball travelling towards the boundary, which distracted them from observing the decision of the on-field umpire. He felt a lot of time was eaten up for the same reason, which led to the timer running out. Besides, the CSK coach also claimed that there were a lot of twists and turns in the match.

"Yeah, it was a big moment. In talking to Jaddu [Jadeja] and Brevis, there was a lot going on with running straight away. I think they saw the ball ricochet and actually went to the boundary for four. And lost in that was whether Brevis took the review in time. I don't know the answer to that. He wasn't sure, given that they were running at the time," said Fleming as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

"As soon as you're given out, I understand the timer starts. There was a fair bit eaten up with the play still being completed, and whether they just ran out of time, in the umpire's view, it did. The other part about it, because he was given out, we wouldn't have gotten the runs. While we would have maintained the wicket, it certainly wouldn't have given us the five runs, which would have been nice. But it's a big moment in a big game. There were twists and turns all the way through," the CSK coach concluded.

CSK miss DRS opportunity as Brevis and Jadeja exceed 15-second review timer

Notably, as per the IPL rules, after the ball becomes dead, a batter can take a maximum of 15 seconds before reviewing an on-field umpire's decision. Unfortunately for CSK, Brevis and Jadeja took 25.2 seconds, more than 10 seconds as per the rule of the timer.
