Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill scored his second consecutive half-century of the 2026 Indian Premier League season in Match 19 against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Chasing 164, Gill was the anchor of the innings, as he set the platform in the powerplay along with Sai Sudharsan. A significant moment in the innings came in the fifth over, when Mohammed Shami bowled an unusual slot ball.

Gill, at his elegant best, lofted the ball high over mid-off, with a crisp no-look drive and held his pose as the ball went high and long into the stands. Gill took 20 runs off the over, the most expensive for Shami in IPL 2026, who has been a powerplay specialist until now. He fell for 56 off 40 balls, as he set the platform for Gujarat's chase on a slightly slower wicket at the Ekana Stadium

Jos Buttler also returned to his blistering best, scoring his second consecutive half-century. Coming off the back of a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign, question marks existed around Buttler's form heading into the IPL season. He answered critics with a brilliant fifty against the Delhi Capitals, displaying his wide array of shots in the powerplay.

Coming in after the powerplay against LSG, Buttler displayed the game awareness to chip away at the score and get the occasional boundary on his way to 60 off 37 ball, his 100th T20 half-century. With that, he became the fifth batter in reach 14,000 T20 runs.
