Irfan Pathan's 65 off 19 blitzkrieg helps Bhilwara Kings start LLC 2023 with a solid win

The Legends League Cricket 2023 kicked off spectacularly with a clash between India Capitals (INDCAP) and Bhilwara Kings (BK) at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. The match, marked by its thrilling display of power-hitting, unfolded into a high-scoring spectacle. And in the end, it was Irfan Pathan's sensational innings of 65* (19) that turned the game in the Kings' favour.

Winning the toss, Bhilwara Kings opted to bowl first, setting the stage for an exciting encounter. The India Capitals openers faced early setbacks as Hashim Amla departed early, falling victim to Anureet Singh's accurate bowling. However, the Capitals quickly regrouped as skipper Gautam Gambhir led from the front with a brisk 63, setting a solid foundation.

Kirk Edwards joined the run-fest, contributing an aggressive 59, while Ben Dunk's explosive cameo of 37 off 16 balls added quick runs to the total. The Capitals showcased their intent with the bat, but the Bhilwara Kings bowlers, especially Anureet Singh, kept striking at regular intervals. Ashley Nurse and KP Appanna provided late flourishes, guiding the Capitals to a formidable total of 292/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Bhilwara Kings, in response, faced an early setback with Lendl Simmons departing for 11. However, Solomon Mire anchored the innings with a brilliant 70, playing a pivotal role in the Kings' chase. Isuru Udana's effective bowling for India Capitals saw the wickets of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Yusuf Pathan, but Captain Irfan Pathan emerged as the star of the show.

Irfan Pathan's explosive innings of 65 not out, featuring an astounding nine sixes, turned the tide in favour of the Kings. Supported by Robin Bist and Chris Barnwell's contributions, the Kings successfully chased down the target, reaching 232/7 in 19.3 overs. 

Ultimately, Bhilwara Kings secured a convincing three-wicket victory, marking a triumphant start to their Legends League campaign. Irfan Pathan was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match for his match-winning innings that set the tone for the Kings' impressive run chase. His innings included a remarkable nine sixes, dismantling the opposition bowling attack.
