The stage is set for the Lanka Premier League 2022 to kickstart as the top-tier league of Sri Lanka is scheduled to commence on December 6, Tuesday. Defending champions Jaffna Kings and last season's runners-up Galle Gladiators will lock horns in the season opener of the all-exciting tournament at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota.
As many as five teams will compete for the coveted title in the LPL 2022. Jaffna Kings, Galle Gladiators, Colombo Stars, Kandy Falcons, and Dambulla Aura are the teams taking part in the top-tier competition.
The league phase will see 20 matches and the top four teams on the points table will then progress to the elimination rounds which will have four matches including the summit clash. The final of the event is scheduled to be played on December 23 with the winner of Qualifier 2 crossing swords with the winner of Qualifier 1.
