'Feels like only he is right and everyone else wrong' - Mohammad Amir lashes out at Ramiz Raja over ‘fixing’ remarks

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir made a straightforward remark on former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja over his statements on fixing. This comes after Raja opined that those who faced fixing charges should not be allowed to make a comeback. 

Amir last played for Pakistan in 2020, in a T20I against England, and later announced his retirement from international cricket owing to a lack of chances. However, the former pacer has been allowed to train at the National High Performance Centre under the new management headed by Najam Sethi. Amir spoke in an interview and made an honest assessment of the ‘fixing’ remarks made by the former PCB chairman. 

“He's a well-read person, that's why no one thought that he would make such statements. With the way he talks, it feels like only he is right and everyone else is wrong. Every person has their own opinion. If 100 people will not agree with me, perhaps 10 will. Some will like it and some will not. But if you feel that only you are right and everyone else is wrong, that's not how it works,” Amir was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Potential return to national team for Mohammad Amir on the cards

Amir was sidelined by the former regime despite being one of the leading pacers for Pakistan, especially in the white-ball formats. Furthermore, he also played an important role in the national team’s triumph in the 2017 Champions Trophy. 

Failing to get along with the previous management, Amir has obtained a chance to don the Green jersey under Sethi. The 30-year-old has featured in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is wherein he has racked up 119, 81, and 59 wickets respectively across the three formats thus far and there is a possibility of the pacer marking his return to the national side. 

Speaking about the Men in Green, the side is currently in the midst of a two-match Test series against New Zealand. They managed to earn a draw from the jaws of defeat in the first contest in Karachi. Pakistan will next play the Kiwis from January 2 in the final Test and aim to earn a result in their favour.
