New Zealand produced a magnificent chase against India at the Eden Park in Auckland in the first ODI and have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The likes of Tom Latham and Kane Williamson put up a huge partnership together and ensured that the hosts went over the line comfortably.

On the other hand, the Indian side did not have much answers to the assault from the New Zealand batting and they would be looking to come up with a better performance. The batting department looked solid with the top three getting runs while Washington Sundar’s final flourish helped in getting over the 300-run mark.

With the series on the line, all eyes will be on the young Indian bowling group in the second ODI at the Seddon Park in Hamilton.

The first ODI did not have any rain interruption in Auckland and provided the fans with some spectacular entertainment. The pitch remained flat in Auckland and Seddon Park is a similar pitch and excellent for batting. However, rain played a major part in the three-match T20I series recently and it could come down to the same in the ODIs as well.

The wicket at Seddon Park in Hamilton can showcase yet another run-fest but there will be enough assistance in it to keep the seamers interested.

Rain might play spoilsport yet again

The weather doesn’t look promising for the second ODI in Hamilton as rain is expected to play spoilsport while India hopes to make a comeback in the series. Since this is an afternoon fixture, according to accuweather.com, the cloud cover will be quite high and the showers are predicted throughout the day time. The temperature is expected to fall from 16 degrees in the afternoon to as low as 12 degrees in the evening.

The precipitation percentage will highly likely come down from 85 in the afternoon to 58 in the evening, giving a slight ray of hope for a shortened game and if the rain gods show mercy, the skipper winning the toss will look to bowl first keeping the DL method in mind and also taking the wet conditions into consideration.
