PAK vs NZ: PCB announces revised scheduled for New Zealand’s white-ball tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and New Zealand Cricket unanimously agreed to make minor changes to the forthcoming white-ball series.

The series was initially set to begin on April 13 in Karachi. However, the cricket boards have made a few changes to the schedule as the two teams will play three T20Is from April 14 to 17 in Lahore before traveling to Rawalpindi for the final two T20Is. 

After five-match T20I series, the teams will engage in as many ODI matches in Rawalpindi and Karachi. Notably, Karachi will host four ODIs whereas Rawalpindi will be the host venue for the first 50-over clash.  The white-ball tour will culminate on May 7 with the fifth and final ODI. It is worth mentioning that this is an ‘additional tour’, however, the matches will have an effect on the ICC Team Rankings. 

Preparations in full-swing for 2023 ODI World Cup

Considering that the 2023 ODI World Cup is on the horizon, both sides will look to make the most from the ODI series. The five-match series serves as a terrific platform to get the combinations and obtain a core for the mega ODI event, which will be held in India in October-November. 

It is worth noting that the Men in Green are also gearing up for the Asia Cup. While the dates and venue of the tournament have not been confirmed yet, it is likely to be before the ODI World Cup. Babar Azam and Co. have a good number of games prior to the marquee event in order to get a balanced squad.

Notably, the T20I series will aid the PCB to rebuild the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The event will be played in the USA and West Indies in June/July 2024.
