Roger Binny, the current President of the board, assumed his role in 2022, following the end of Sourav Ganguly's tenure, which lasted from 2019 to 2022. It is worth noting that Binny was the only person who filed a nomination to become the BCCI President in 2022. Before his role as the President, the 1983 World Cup winner was a part of the BCCI's Selection Committee.
Roger Binny's achievements as a player and as the BCCI President
As the President of the BCCI, Binny's tenure had a lot of ups. Under his leadership, the Indian Men's Team made it to the final of the ODI World Cup in 2023, won the Asia Cup in the same year, and won the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
The Women's Premier League (WPL) was also started under his tenure. Binny had a role in seniors participating in domestic tournaments, strengthening and prioritising domestic cricket, and a better pay division and incentives. Binny, being a former Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President, helped him become the BCCI President.
Binny was the leading wicket-taker in the 1983 World Cup, which India won under the leadership of Kapil Dev. He was also the leading wicket-taker in the World Championship of Cricket in 1985, a Champions Trophy equivalent of sorts, which India won by beating Pakistan in the final.
