Even though no definite name has been mentioned by the authorities but according to reports, a ‘high profile’ English cricketer is currently under investigation for allegedly calling his county teammate “P***" multiple times between 2014-16. The shocking revelation is indeed a major setback for English cricket as the team management has taken multiple initiatives in the past year to stop racism.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) started the investigation around three weeks ago and currently, they are looking for more witnesses. The report also claims that the words were used while they were playing football during a practice session.

“We do not comment on who is or isn’t the subject of ECB investigations in situations such as this,” an ECB spokesperson said when asked to name the cricketer. Apparently, the report also claims that the player was ‘reprimanded by a well-known senior player’ after the incident.

England gearing up for T20 World Cup

England team is currently gearing up for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. They recently defeated Pakistan in their own backyard in a seven-match T20I series by 4-3. The Jos Buttler-led side will also face the hosts Australia in a three-match series prior to the World Cup. The series will be crucial for them in terms of getting used to the conditions in Australia ahead of the mega event. England will open their campaign against Afghanistan in the mega event on October 22 in Perth.

The team will miss Jonny Bairstow who suffered a freak injury while playing Golf and has been ruled out of action probably for the rest of this year. Their much-famed skipper Eoin Morgan also retired from international cricket while Jason Roy has been dropped due to his poor form. England will be hoping to go all the way with a fresh bunch of players led by Buttler.
