Maharashtra batter Prithvi Shaw was recently involved in a heated on-field altercation with young all-rounder Musheer Khan during a practice game against his former side, Mumbai. However, Shaw has since apologised to Musheer, putting the matter to rest.
The incident took place during the three-day friendly match between Maharashtra and Mumbai at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, Pune. Representing Maharashtra after moving from Mumbai, Shaw smashed 181 off 220 balls, featuring 21 fours and three sixes, as he and Arshin Kulkarni stitched a 305-run stand for the opening wicket. According to reports, the altercation began when Musheer sarcastically said “Thank you” after dismissing Shaw.
The comment didn’t go down well with the Maharashtra batter, who turned around angrily and charged towards the young spinner. The right-handed batter was even seen raising his bat in frustration before the umpire stepped in to defuse the situation. Video clips of the spat quickly went viral, leading to both state associations, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MACA), to look into the matter.

Dilip Vengsarkar to speak to both players regarding the incident
Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap confirmed that former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar would speak to both players as part of a formal review. Similarly, MACA secretary Kamlesh Pisal stressed the importance of maintaining discipline, saying that the association would also seek a report on the incident before taking any decision. As per a Times of India report, Shaw later approached Musheer and apologised, saying he saw himself as an elder brother to the young Mumbai player.
"Prithvi realized his mistake and approached Musheer and apologised to him. Prithvi told him that ' I am like an elder brother to you. So all is well between the two," a source told this paper.
Notably, Shaw shares a strong bond with Musheer’s elder brother, Sarfaraz Khan, his long-time friend and former teammate from Rizvi Springfield School and Mumbai. That friendship reportedly played a role in smoothing things over between the two players.
