Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting has reportedly spent a whopping $20 million for a lavish mansion in Toorak, a suburb of Melbourne. As per several reports that are doing rounds in the Australian media circles, the former Aussie skipper has bought the mansion above its listed price in the market.
It is reported that the luxurious property was listed between $19 million to $20.6 million. But it is rumoured to have been bought for a whopping $20.75 million.
The lavish stay covers 1400 square metres of surface area and has both indoor and outdoor space with a highly modernised kitchen as per The Age. Ponting already has a luxurious mansion in Brighton which he had bought for $9.2 million back in the year 2013.
Although a lot is yet to come out in the public domain about Ponting's latest jaw-dropping purchase, his property located in Brighton houses mesmerising amenities that are far out of the reach of a commoner.
The property in Brighton reportedly has a private theatre, seven bedrooms and an exclusive laneway to the beach located nearby. It is noteworthy that the former Australian skipper has a lot of businesses that he runs other than his long time association with the gentleman's game.
Cricketer-turned-coach cum commentator
The Aussie batting maestro is regarded as one of the greatest batters and captains to have graced the sport. In a career that spanned over 17 years, Ponting achieved everything that he could possibly achieve as a batter and a captain for his nation.
He ended his Test career as the second leading run getter in the history of Test cricket behind India's Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Ponting scored 13378 runs across 168 Tests after making his debut (Test) in December 1995 against Sri Lanka.
In addition to that, he also scored 13704 runs in 375 ODI outings for his country and led his team proudly in the format. He helped the Aussies claim the ODI World Cup trophy twice in a row (2003 and 2007). Since hanging his playing boots in 2012, 'Punter' as he is fondly called by his teammates, has kept himself associated with the game and made a name for himself in the coaching circles and also as a widely loved commentator.
During his stint as head coach, the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians managed to clinch the coveted title in 2015. He has rendered his services to the Australian cricket team as well, though in short bursts. He has been taking care of Delhi Capitals as their head coach since 2018 and has propelled them to the finals too.
