Sick and tired of seeing draws being rewarded in Test matches: Brad Hogg

Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg expressed that he was ‘tired’ of teams in Test cricket receiving points for draws. The blunt statement comes after Australia and India drew curtains on the fourth and final Test in Ahmedabad on level terms on Monday, March 13.

Based on the current set of rules for the World Test Championship (WTC), teams are handed four points in the case of a draw. Whereas, 12 points are rewarded for the winning team and six points in the case of a tie in the contest. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former Aussie wrist-spinner opined that teams should not be handed points for draws in Test cricket.

"I don't think teams should be getting points for drawing a match. I am just sick and tired of seeing draws being rewarded,” expressed Hogg.

Notably, Rohit Sharma & Co. won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 after remaining on level terms in the Ahmedabad Test.

Hogg made a slew of blunt remarks following the conclusion of the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The 52-year-old was left infuriated as he lashed out on the pitch curators in the series and slammed the Ahmedabad pitch for producing a dull draw in the fourth red-ball clash.

"It was an average pitch in the first two matches, a poor pitch in the third one. For me, the Ahmedabad pitch was very poor, even though there was a little bit in there for the bowlers, it was just a dead pitch and there was not much entertainment out there for the spectators. There should be bigger penalties for curators creating poor pitches that are not suitable for Test cricket,” added the former Aussie.
