T20 World Cup 2024: AUS vs NAM - Who said What?

The 24^th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 saw Namibia locking horns with Australia at Antigua. After opting to bowl first, the 2021 champions wrapped up Namibia on just 72 runs and made light work of the chase with a nine-wicket victory. There was nothing major in Namibia’s batting show with skipper Gerhard Erasmus’ 36 being the highest individual score.

Adam Zampa turned out to be a stunner yet again for Australia as he choked the opponents with his four-fer. While only giving 12 runs in his four overs, Zampa picked four wickets to completely dismantle Erasmus and his men. David Warner’s 20 off 8 and Travis Head’s 34 off 17 wrapped up the chase under six overs, breaking multiple records.

Australia make it into the Super 8

With the clinical win against Namibia, Australia have made it into the Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup with a game against Scotland to spare. Australia might rest some of their players for the same game, which will be played on June 16.

Adam Zampa shines yet again

Australia spinner Zampa continued his great rhythm in the match against Namibia as well. He took four wickets in the match while giving only 12 runs in his quota of four overs, breaking multiple records. Zampa is deemed one of the greatest white-ball spinners for Australia.

Winning skipper, Mitchell Marsh said

I thought it was a great performance from the bowling team. Swing was around and all-round a professional performance. It's really important and great to qualify for the super eights.. We will manage as many as we can over the next few days. [on Zampa] If you look at his career over the last 4-5 years, he 's probably our most important player. He loves the pressure and he is bowling well at the moment and we are lucky to have him. [on how they are enjoying the off days in West Indies] Probably not as many beers as you had back in the day Haydos. Lots of beach days and it's like being back in Perth, we are enjoying it.

Losing skipper, Gerhard Erasmus said

That you can't sit back against the best in the world. The skill gap is there, we tried to close that by fighting fire with fire but we did not do that in this tournament so far. A good side like Australia with their skillset will expose you if you are not mentally there, the conditions were fair and unfortunately we did not play well enough according to the conditions.

Player of the match, Adam Zampa said

 It sounds fine, we qualify for the Super 8s, that's a nice feeling. Enjoying bowling, being encouraged to take wickets by the captain, just trying to do my thing mate. We are happy (to qualify), first step in trying to take the trophy home, but long way to go.
