Two-time T20 World Cup champions England and West Indies are set to lock horns in an important fixture in Group C at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, February 11. On the eve of the clash, the Three Lions have unveiled their playing XI.
England started their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a hard-earned four-run win against a spirited Nepal side at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Harry Brook and Co. were pushed to their limit by Rohit Paudel's men, who almost chased down a challenging 185-run target.
England needed Sam Curran to defend 10 runs in the last over, and the seam-bowling all-rounder delivered under pressure. Having collected full points from the thrilling contest, England will look to take another step towards the Super-Eight stage of the competition with a win against the Caribbean side on Wednesday.
They have made only one change to their playing XI, as Jamie Overton has been brought into the side in place of Luke Wood. This adds more depth to England's batting unit as Overton can tonk the ball down the order.
Wood didn't have a great outing in the last game. He bowled three wides in the penultimate over and gave away a total of 14 runs. The left-arm speedster finished with figures of 1/31 in three overs.
England's playing XI versus the West Indies: Phil Salt, Jos Buttler (WK), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Harry Brook (C), Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Jamie Overton, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid.
What is England's record at Wankhede Stadium in T20Is?
Coming to the West Indies, the Shai Hope-led side was in action on the opening day of the competition on February 7. They faced Scotland at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Windies scored 182/5 on the back of Shimron Hetmyer's 36-ball 64. In reply, the Scots were bowled out for 147 in 18.5 overs, with Romario Shepherd bagging a hat-trick. He finished with career-best figures of 5/20 in three overs.
