The semi-final matches of the T20 World Cup 2026 will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. No official announcement has been made regarding where the final will be played.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The last tournament where both the boards were the co-hosts was during the 2011 ODI World Cup, with Bangladesh being the third host country that year. Recently, the International Cricket Council identified eight venues across which the matches will be conducted in February and March next year.
According to Cricbuzz, Besides Ahmedabad and Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai will host matches. As for Sri Lanka, the SLC has zeroed in on Colombo and Kandy as the two host cities. Both the SCC and the RPS will be hosting games in Colombo. The location for the summit clash will depend on whether one of the finalists will be Pakistan or not. If they don't qualify, it will be hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
With respect to the semi-final, the match will be played in Colombo if either Sri Lanka or Pakistan reach that stage. If neither of the two teams get through to the last-four stage, both the matches will be played in India. If the Men in Green get to the final, the match will be played in Colombo and not any of the Indian venues.
A press release from the International Cricket Council last month stated that the 20-team tournament will be played in the same format as the 20-over event played in 2024. There will be four separate groups comprising five teams each. Other than the 13 Test-playing nations, Canada, Netherlands, the UAE, Nepal, Oman, and Namibia will feature as well. Italy, too, will be making their debut at the global tournament.

The group stage will be followed up with the Super Eights phase in which there will be two groups with each group made up of four teams. India won the previous edition played in USA and West Indies by getting the better of South Africa in the final. Sri Lanka had finished third in their group and failed to make it to the next stage. As per Cricbuzz, the ICC will be expected to be out with the schedule and groupings in the coming days.
