The Hundred franchise, London Spirit, has appointed Mo Bobat as their new Director of Cricket, starting from 1 October 2025. The announcement was made after the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and US-based tech investment group Tech Titans confirmed they will retain the London Spirit name as the franchise transitions into private ownership.
Last week, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed the future of The Hundred, with all eight franchises moving towards private ownership. MCC now holds a 51% stake in London Spirit, while Tech Titans have acquired the remaining 49%. The franchise confirmed that ‘London Spirit’ will remain central to its identity, with a new brand identity launching in early 2026.
"Today marks a significant moment for London Spirit. Mo Bobat brings unmatched expertise and vision to the role of Director of Cricket, and we’re thrilled to welcome him. At the same time, retaining the London Spirit name reflects our belief in the identity that’s been built – one that resonates with the capital, our fans, and our values. We now look ahead to a new era, with fresh energy and clear purpose," London Spirit Chairman, Julian Metherell, said in an MCC statement.
