The Pakistan Super League Season 8 is getting exciting with every match and game no 8 was no different as Karachi Kings got their first win of the season defeating the defending champions Lahore Qalandars by 67 runs. Apart from the cricketing action, a bizarre celebration by Mohammad Amir also made headlines during the game.

Amir picked up the wicket of Shai Hope in the sixth over of the innings and ran in celebration towards the striker’s end, where he stood ahead of the stumps and performed the famous DX celebration from the WWE.

Coming back to the match, after being put in to bat first, Karachi got off to a great start by their openers Matthew Wade and James Vince who added 70 runs in 43 balls. The partnership was ended due to a miscommunication between the two batters, which led to the dismissal of Wade.

The wicketkeeper batter departed after scoring 36 off 24. At the other end, Vince continued his innings and went on to score 46 off 36 balls. Captain Imad Wasim also played a crucial knock of 35 off 19 to take his team to a massive total of 185/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

From Qalandars, Shaheen Afridi, Zaman Khan, Haris Rauf and Liam Dawson picked up one wicket each. In reply to the Kings, Qalandars got off to a decent start by their openers Fakhar Zaman and Mirza Tahir Baig who added 40 runs for the first wicket in 26 balls. However, the Qalandars lost their way in the chase later on and got bundled out for 118 in 17.3 overs.

Akif Javed shines with the ball for the Karachi Kings

Tahir Baig was the top scorer for the Qalandars who scored 45 off 39 balls. On the other hand, Akif Javed was the wrecker-in-chief for the Kings who picked up 4/28 in 3.3 overs. Apart from him, Aamer Yamin and Ben Cutting also picked up two wickets each.

Meanwhile, there were strong reactions on Mohammad Amir’s wicket taking celebration by the cricket fans on Twitter. Many fans expressed their displeasure on his act.
