India's bowling superstar, Jasprit Bumrah, had a hilarious moment during his post-day press conference at Lord’s. Bumrah, coming off a brilliant five-wicket haul and registering his name on the iconic Lord’s honours board, had a witty reaction when a phone began to ring on the table.
The incident took place when the pacer was attending to the reporters and replying to their questions. While responding to one question, a phone rang suddenly and prompted Bumrah to pick up the phone and keep it aside. During the process, he said, "Somebody's wife is calling. But I will not pick it up, I will leave it that way."

However, his 5/74 was clinical in bowling England out for 387 in the first innings of the third Test at Lord’s, and with that, he earned a spot on the Lord’s honours board, making him the 14th Indian in the list. Bumrah, who was rested from the second Test at Edgbaston as part of workload management, returned with his best. On the second day morning, he dismissed three of England’s most batters, including Joe Root, captain Ben Stokes, and Chris Woakes, in quick succession.
This five-wicket haul recorded his 15th in Test cricket and 13th overseas, taking him past Kapil Dev’s record of 12 five-wicket hauls in overseas Tests. Despite Bumrah’s brilliance, England’s lower order made a solid comeback. Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse's respective half-centuries guided the home team to 387, adding 116 runs for the final three wickets.
Till the time I am wearing this jersey, there will be judgment: Bumrah
India’s batting began on a poor note as Yashasvi Jaiswal was undone by Jofra Archer, along with Karun Nair and Shubman Gill walking back. At stumps on Day 2, India were 145/3, trailing by 242 runs with KL Rahul unbeaten on 53 and Rishabh Pant on 19. During the press conference, Bumrah reflected on the pressures of professional sport and the constant criticism faced by players.
“Till the time I am wearing this jersey, there will be judgment. That’s part and parcel of professional sport. You will always be judged by your performance, day in and day out. When Sachin sir played 200 Test matches, he was also still judged," Bumrah said.

The 31-year-old also recalled his previous visit to Lord’s in 2021, where, despite a forgettable outing with the ball, he contributed with the bat in a famous lower-order partnership with Mohammed Shami.
"I don't think about all that. The most memorable test match for me was in England last time. When Shami Bhai and I won the match with the bat, obviously, I will remember those memories. It is a good thing to come to the Honours Board. When my son grows up, I can tell him that my name is on the Honours Board. And it is also there in many other places. But I remember the memories. In that match, I took only 3 or 4 wickets. But that memory was very special for me because we came forward in the game from behind, and we had them all out in 60 overs. So memories are very important to me," he added.
