The Australian skipper Pat Cummins delivered a blow right after lunch, picking up two wickets in an over during the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025 against South Africa at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.

He returned to the attack immediately after the lunch break and made an instant impact in just his second over of the spell, in the 52nd of the innings, with Kyle Verreynne and David Bedingham at the crease for South Africa.

On the third ball of the over, Cummins bowled a sharp nip-backer that hit Verreynne in line with middle and leg as the batter shuffled across, missing his attempted flick. The appeal was followed by a collision between Cummins and Verreynne, after the Australian skipper went for a review. The ball-tracking replay showed three reds, and Cummins showed a roar in celebration as Verreynne was dismissed.

Then, on the final delivery of the same over, Pat Cummins struck again. He bowled to the new batter Marco Jansen by setting him up with two length deliveries outside off. On the next ball, Jansen pushed forward, only to edge it off the outer half of his bat. The ball jumped up, and Cummins completed a simple return catch. This marked the 18th time in his Test career that Cummins has taken multiple wickets in a single over.
