Former South Africa skipper Hashim Amla surprisingly left out the legendary Sachin Tendulkar while naming his three greatest batters of all time. Amla revealed his picks ahead of the South Africa Champions' encounter against India Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) in England.

Amla recently made headlines with a surprising omission in his list of the three greatest batters of all time. In an interview, Amla named his top three, and many fans were stunned to see the former India captain, Sachin Tendulkar, not on the list.

Amla said that his three favourite batters while growing up were West Indies batter Brian Lara, Australian all-rounder Steve Waugh, and South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis. However, now, he picked former India captain Virat Kohli, former South Africa teammate AB de Villiers, and the iconic Sir Vivian Richards.

"There are so many great players over the years. Growing up, my three favourite players were Brian Lara, Steve Waugh, and Jacques Kallis, being from South Africa. But now, I'd pick three other names-Virat Kohli in recent times, AB de Villiers, and one more from the old days, Sir Vivian Richards," Amla said during an interview with Star Sports, as he left out the leading run-scorer of all time in international cricket.

The 42-year-old Amla is currently in England, as he is representing South Africa Champions in the second season of WCL. In South Africa's first match of the ongoing edition, they defeated the West Indies in a bowl-out. Amla opened the batting and scored 15 off 18 balls. The DLS target is 11 overs was 81, and the AB de Villiers-led side finished on 80/6.
