Kolkata Knight Riders take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 21. SRH won the toss and opted to bat first. Hyderabad walked into the game with the same playing XI as the last game. On the other KKR’s last game was a washout and they have fielded the same team as well. But for KKR one key player is missing from the last time they were in the action.
Phil Salt, KKR’s striking opener has flown back to England as his national side is taking on Pakistan in a T20I series. So, Sunil Narine will be paired up with a new batter in the opening slot. KKR haven’t tinkered much with their opening pair this season, but force change here will either hamper their progress or to say the least, lack firepower.
“We gonna have a bat, looks like a good wicket and expect a high-scoring game. The batting group has been amazing for us and hopefully more of the same tonight. We are playing pretty much the same eleven as the last game,” said Cummins at the toss.

“I would have loved to bowl. I had a chat with the curator and he said it's a mixed soil, let's see how it plays, hoping for a good game. Important that we keep the momentum going and stay in the present. Great achievement (finishing at the top of the table) and everyone is proud of it, we are taking one match at a time and we need to be positive about what's going to happen here. We are going with the same team,” said Iyer at the toss.
