The final of the second edition of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) is set to take place on June 7 at The Oval in London. The table-toppers Australia will take on India in the WTC summit clash. Australia reached the final after a brilliant nine-wicket win over Rohit Sharma and Co. in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Indore.

Meanwhile, India secured their spot after New Zealand’s thrilling win over Sri Lanka in the first Test of their two-match series at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Notably, India won the four-match series against Australia 2-1 after the final Test in Ahmedabad ended in a draw.

With the WTC finalists confirmed, former India opener Aakash Chopra has asked why England only hosts the event. Chopra also opined that the WTC final should be a three-match series instead of one game. He also thinks that the conditions in England will not suit the Asian teams and suggested that the teams should play a three-match series, with one match at home, one at the opponent's home, and one at a neutral venue.

Chopra took to Twitter and wrote, “Why WTC Finals happen only in England? Neutral venue but it mirrors non-Asian conditions. Why does it have only one game? Why not have a Test series to determine the World Test Champion? Why not have one test each at home and one at a neutral venue? Ambitious…yes, of course.”

'Test cricket is a very unique sport' - says Chopra

"No tournament lasts two years to find its winner. So, please don’t throw ‘final should be one knockout game’ in my direction. Test cricket is a very unique sport…lasts five days. Championship lasts two years. Finals can surely be a 3-match series," he concluded in another tweet.

India and Australia will lock horns in the summit clash of the World Test Championship in June. This will be the second time India will be playing in the WTC final. India lost the first-ever WTC final against New Zealand, where Kane Williamson and Co. emerged victorious by eight wickets.
