Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to collide against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 13.

There isn't a lot at stake for table-toppers KKR in this clash, as they have already progressed to the playoffs and have also guaranteed themselves a spot in the top two. However, mentor Gautam Gambhir detests complacency and would want the two-time champions to extend their four-match winning streak. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill-led GT are stationed at No. 8 on the points table, with five wins and seven losses in their kitty. They will have to win their two remaining matches and hope that other results go their way.

The hosts are coming into this encounter on the back of a much-needed 35-run win against Chennai Super Kings. They tasted success after losing three games on the trot. The best thing that emerged out of that win was the return to form of their captain, Gill. The right-handed batter smashed 104 off 55 balls and won the Player of the Match award. His opening partner Sai Sudharsan, who has been consistent throughout the season, also slammed a 51-ball 103. The southpaw has been on fire this season and is fourth on the list of highest run-getters in IPL 2024. In 12 matches, he has amassed 527 runs at an average of 47.91 and a strike rate of 141.29.

In the bowling department, Mohit Sharma bagged a three-for in the last game. He has picked up 13 wickets from 12 matches but has an economy rate of just under 11. The talismanic Rashid Khan has not been at his best, having conceded runs at an economy rate of 8.40 in 12 matches and picked up 10 wickets.

Meanwhile, KKR defeated Mumbai Indians in their last game at home. The Knights have benefitted immensely from the form of their openers Sunil Narine and Phil Salt this season. While the former has scored 461 runs from 12 matches at an average of 38.42 and a strike rate of 182.94, Salt has aggregated 435 runs from 12 matches at an average of 39.55 and a strike rate of 182.01. The form of captain Shreyas Iyer, however, has been a bit of a concern. Rinku Singh has also not been at his best and would look to get some runs under his belt ahead of the playoffs. However, the southpaw will have fond memories of this venue as he hit five sixes off Yash Dayal off the last five balls of the match to give KKR a memorable win versus GT last year.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Narine have starred for KKR this season. The Karnataka spinner has bagged 18 wickets from 12 matches at 20.39. Meanwhile, Narine has scalped 15 wickets from 12 matches and his economy rate is an excellent 6.64 for the season.

Narendra Modi Stadium Pitch Report and Conditions

This season, fans have witnessed low-scoring as well as high-scoring matches at this venue. In the last two matches, 200 runs have been scored in three out of the four innings. Another belter of a track could welcome the two teams on Sunday. The captain who wins the toss could opt to chase first as the ball comes on nicely to the bat in the second innings.

Probable Playing XI

Gujarat Titans (GT)

Gujarat Titans made three changes to their playing XI in the last game, as they brought in Matthew Wade, Umesh Yadav, and Kartik Tyagi. After finally ending their losing streak, Titans wouldn't want to make any changes unless some last-minute injury pops up.

Predicted XI: Shubman Gill (c), Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, David Miller, Matthew Wade (wk), Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Umesh Yadav, Mohit Sharma, Kartik Tyagi

Impact Player: Sandeep Warrier

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Nitish Rana finally returned in the last game against Mumbai after missing 10 matchs due to a finger injury. He came in for Angkrish Raghuvanshi. KKR could afford to give some rest to some of the players as they have already assured their spot in Qualifier 1. England players are going to miss the playoff phase of the competition and this could be a good opportunity to give Rahmanullah Gurbaz or KS Bharat a go as they won't have Salt's services for the playoffs.

Predicted XI: Phil Salt (wk), Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer (c), Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy.

Impact Player: Vaibhav Arora
