Who won India Women vs Sri Lanka Women 5th T20I today

A clinical display with the bat as well as the ball meant that the India Women made the fifth and final T20I of the series at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram theirs, winning by 15 runs on Tuesday, December 30. Sri Lanka Women's Chamari Athapaththu called it correctly at the toss and opted to field first, keeping the dew in mind. The Indians had a sedated start, losing openers Gunalan Kamalini and Shafali Verma inside the powerplay while the scorecard read 40-2 before the field restrictions were lifted.

Harmanpreet Kaur stepped in and played responsibly to show why she is among the best in the business. Later in the innings, Amanjot Kaur and Arundhati Reddy played handy cameos, as the hosts posted 175-7 while batting first. In response, however, the Lankans failed to get over the line, as Harmanpreet's bowling attack kept things tight from both ends. Opener Hasini Perera looked dangerous and almost stole the game, but it wasn't meant to be, as the middle-order failed miserably.

Top batting performance of the match — Harmanpreet Kaur

Making a silent arrival at the crease, the Indian skipper played a captain's knock, literally bailing the team out of trouble. Her 68 off 43 balls was the reason that the hosts were able to post a decent total on the board. Her knock, coming at a strike-rate of 158, was laced with nine fours and a maximum, as she played risk-free cricket, finding runs through hitting ball in the gaps and not hurrying into things.

Top Bowling performance of the match — Kavisha Dilhari

Despite bearing the disappointing loss, the Sri Lankans would be happy with how Kavisha Dilhari delivered in just the couple of overs she bowled. At the end of her spell, she had picked up two crucial breakthroughs, while conceding only 11 runs. She first removed the opener Shafali, and then returned to get the most important wicket of the Indian captain.

Who won the Player of the Match?

Undoubtedly, it was Harmanpreet, who was adjudged the Player of the Match for her 68 off 43. She also used her bowlers brilliantly during the defence of the target, contributing to the side's win in multiple ways. On the other hand, Shafali Verma was named the Player of the Series for her 241 runs in the series, which also includes three half-centuries.
