Explosive left-handed batter Ishan Kishan etched his name into history books as he became the fourth Indian and seventh player overall to smash a double hundred in ODI cricket. The southpaw hammered 210 off just 131 with 24 fours and ten maximums against Bangladesh in the third and final match of the series in Chattogram. Virat Kohli also brought up his 72nd international ton as India defeated the Bangla Tigers by a massive margin of 227 runs. Notably, the home side sealed the series 2-1 courtesy of their wins in the opening two games in Mirpur.

Speaking about how the game panned out, skipper Litton Das won the toss and opted to field first. Shikhar Dhawan ended his poor series with the third consecutive single-digit score as he fell for just three runs. Ishan blasted his way right from the start as he completely overpowered the Bangladeshi bowling line-up. The destructive batter brought up his maiden century in international cricket and then went for the double ton. With his knock of 210, Ishan became the youngest and the fastest double centurion in ODIs.

He reached the milestone aged 24y 145d and in 126 deliveries, both world records. Kohli played second fiddle but also reached his 44th ODI ton and 72nd across formats, surpassing Ricky Ponting’s tally of 71. The pair added a 290-run partnership, which is India’s third-highest for any wicket in the format. Courtesy of the duo, the Men in Blue reached their fourth-highest ODI total of 409/8 in 50 overs.

Chasing a mammoth target of 410, veteran Shakib Al Hasan top-scored for his side with his knock of 43 off 50. No other Bangladeshi batter looked in touch as they never really looked like being in the run-chase. Shardul Thakur picked up 3/30 while Axar Patel and Umran Malik snared two scalps each as the home side surrendered and were bundled out for just 182 in 34 overs. For his blazing double century, Ishan Kishan won the Player of the Match award while Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed the Player of the Series award for 141 runs and four wickets.
