India and Bangladesh locked horns in the third and final ODI of the three-match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The hosts had already clinched the series by winning the first two games, and they needed to win the final game to complete a white-wash. But the Men in Blue bounced back stronger to save themselves from the embarrassment and won the final game in a stylish manner, by a whopping 227 runs.
It all started with Bangladesh winning the toss and putting India to bat first. They dominated the powerplay as the bowlers dismissed Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan, for a poor score of 3(8) in the fifth over. But all their celebrations were brought to an end by Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli, who wreaked havoc on the field and played a destructive knock.
Ishan Kishan (210 off 131) claimed his maiden international century and went on to convert it into a double ton, thereby becoming the player to score the fastest 200 in ODIs. He shared a 290-run stand for the second wicket with Kohli before being dismissed but shattered multiple records on his way to the glorious knock.
Soon after his dismissal, Kohli was next to start the celebrations by notching up his 44th ODI ton, his 72nd international century overall. After back-to-back poor outings in the first two games, Kohli (113 off 91) outplayed the Bangladeshi bowlers and put up a magnificent show on display. Shakib Al Hasan dismissed him, but India’s scoreboard kept ticking, thanks to a 27-ball 37 cameo by Washington Sundar. As a result, India ended up posting a humungous target of 410 runs.
India give Bangladesh a taste of their own medicine
Bangladesh’s batting innings started off well, but it did not take much time for the Indian bowlers to convert it into a nightmare. Bangladesh lost two wickets in the powerplay as openers Anamul Haque and Litton Das were sent packing by Axar Patel and Mohammad Siraj respectively. Shakib played a composed knock and tried to anchor the innings but the Indian bowlers kept breaking the momentum by picking wickets at regular intervals.
After the dismissal of the middle-order batters, the remaining Bangladesh batters could not do much scoring. Shardul Thakur put up a good show as he picked up three wickets in his five overs. While Axar Patel and Umran Malik picked up two wickets each, Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar ended with one wicket each under their belt.
Bangladesh’s tailenders Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman showed great determination. When India needed just one wicket to win the game, the duo shared a 33-run partnership for the final wicket and kept the opposition bowlers struggling for the one last wicket. But Umran Malik finished off things for India by dismissing Mustafizur Rahman as the Men in Blue bagged a 227-run win.

Thumping win today but this series has been a huge disappointment from India's perspective. Had Bangladesh on the mat in first 2 games yet failed to finish the job. Going forward, I hope new selectors zero-in on 16-17 players & only play those 16-17 leading up to the WC. #BANvIND

The way he was going and with 14 overs left when he got out. Won’t be ludicrous to say that Ishan Kishan misses out on a triple! What an innings! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
