DC vs GT: IPL 2026 Records and Stats at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi

The pitch in Delhi has had a few controversies in the past. But the current wicket is perfectly suited for modern T20 cricket, where the side batting second can expect to chase totals well above 200.

The Delhi Capitals (DC) play their second successive home game of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) when they take on the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 14 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, April 8.

DC come on the back of a convincing victory over the Mumbai Indians in their previous fixture. The 2020 finalists bowled well to restrict their opponents to just 162 before chasing it down with relative ease, thanks to Sameer Rizvi’s 90, which propelled them to a six-wicket victory.

GT, on the other hand, are coming off a defeat at the hands of the Rajasthan Royals. Chasing 210 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the 2022 champions looked like the favourites to secure the win, only to lose by four runs after failing to score 11 runs from the final over. The team from Ahmedabad are yet to secure their first two points of the season.

Both DC and GT faced off against each other twice last season, with Shubman Gill’s side winning on both occasions. This includes an emphatic 10-wicket victory over DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The hosts put 199 runs on the board after KL Rahul’s maiden hundred with his new side. Despite posting a competitive total, GT chased it down in 19 overs without losing a single wicket, with Sai Sudharsan scoring 108 and Gill contributing 93.

The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has massively helped the batters. However, the previous game at the venue did cause some trouble for the side batting first, with the ball stopping in the first innings. That was an afternoon game. With the game on Wednesday being played under the lights, expect batting to take ascendancy once again.

Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Report

The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has become synonymous with batting. When the ball does not offer much assistance to the bowlers, runs are very easy to come for the side batting with smaller boundaries, also helping the cause.

The pitch in New Delhi has had a few controversies in the past. But the current wicket is perfectly suited for modern T20 cricket, where the side batting second can expect to chase totals well above 200.

DC vs GT Strategies and Match-ups

DC and GT have a deep batting lineup, with both sides having batters all the way down to number eight. The top order will once again play the key role in the game on Wednesday, with GT expected to see captain Gill return to the lineup. DC, however, will want Rahul to fire after two underwhelming displays. The hosts do have a stronger middle order compared to their opponents, with the likes of Rizvi, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs providing some much-needed depth to the lineup.

With GT only joining the IPL in 2022, the two sides have played each other seven times in the history of the tournament, with GT leading the head-to-head four wins to three. DC, however, have won three out of their last five meetings, but their last victory came back in 2024.
