It will be a Super Sunday on May 4, and the first game of the day in IPL 2025 will be between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This will be the second battle between the defending champions and the inaugural winners.
The Kolkata franchise has not had a very consistent season so far, where they have to win all their games to stay in contention now. Though they had a great win against the Delhi Capitals, they still have to win all their games to stay in contention for the playoffs this season. So far, the Boys in Purple have won four and lost five out of the 10 games they have played, with one game ending in a no result.
The Royals, on the other hand, are one of the teams that has been officially eliminated from the tournament after their underwhelming performance against the Mumbai Indians (MI). They will still be hoping that they get some wins under their belt before ending their disappointing season. The Boys in Pink have won only three games so far this season.
It was the Kolkata Knight Riders who won the first encounter between the two teams in Guwahati early in the tournament. While the three-time champions would look to ensure that history repeats itself, the Royals will be looking to get redemption and spoil the party.

Key Player Battles in KKR vs RR, Match 53 of IPL 2025:
1. Ajinkya Rahane vs Wanindu Hasaranga

Ajinkya Rahane has no doubt been the best batter for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) this season, scoring runs consistently. However, he has had his struggles against Sri Lankan leggie Wanindu Hasaranga against whom he has scored only nine runs at an average of 4.50 and has a strike rate of only 112.50. He has also been dismissed twice by him.
2. Riyan Parag vs Sunil Narine

Rahane will not be the only key player who has his challenge against spin since RR middle-order batter Riyan Parag has also had his struggles, especially against Sunil Narine. Parag might have been dismissed only once, but he has a run-a-ball strike rate and averages only 13.
