Indian Premier Leagues is one of the biggest franchise league in the history of T20 cricket. The format has become very popular ever since the start of IPL and scoring half-centuries has become a habit for most of the batters.

Recently, David Warner smashed his 58th half century against MI in match number 16 of the Indian Premier League 2023. In this article we will see how the batters have been benefitted by the fifties that they scored in the IPL games, which eventually led to their side winning the contest. 

Here's a list of top five players with most fifties in a winning cause in IPL:

David Warner: 35

David Warner is one of the most valuable overseas player as far as Indian T20 league is concerned. Warner has represented two teams and has captained both the teams at least once. Warner has amassed 6090 runs in as many as 166 innings. He averages 42.29 and has scored those runs at a strike rate of 139.61. Warner has scored 58 fifties in IPL out of which 35 have come in the winning cause. David Warner tops the list for most number of half-centuries in a winning cause.

Shikhar Dhawan: 33

Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most prolific run-getter as far as the big tournament is concerned. Dhawan currently leads PBKS, but he has also represented SRH, MI and DC in the cash-rich league. He has amassed 6469 runs in 208 innings with a staggering average of 36.13 and has struck at 127.01. Shikhar Dhawan has smashed 49 fifties in total in IPL, of which 33 have come in the winning cause, which is the second-most in the history of IPL.

Gautam Gambhir: 26

Two-times title winning skipper, Gautam Gambhir is joint-third in the list of most half-centuries scored in the winning cause. Gambhir started his IPL career representing Delhi Capitals, after that he played for KKR and captained the same team. Gambhir has aggregated 4217 runs in 152 games at an average of 31. Gambhir has scored 36 half-centuries in the cash-rich league wherein 26 have come in the winning cause. Gambhir has the most percentage of fifties in winning cause too. 

Rohit Sharma: 26

Rohit Sharma is the most successful captain in the history of IPL. Rohit has led MI to five IPL titles overall and as a player he has 6 titles overall. He is one among the two players to achieve the feat of taking a hattrick and scoring a century in the history of IPL along with Shane Watson. Rohit has amassed 5966 runs in 225 innings at an average of 30.28 and has struck at 129.86. He has aggregated 41 fifties overall of which 26 have come in winning cause. Rohit Sharma ended the half-century drought in match number 16 of the Indian Premier League 2023 against Delhi Capitals. He was without fifty in his previous 25 innings. With this fifty, Rohit Sharma equalled Gautam Gambhir for joint-third most half-centuries in the winning cause

AB de Villiers: 25

AB de Villiers is arguably the finest cricketer that the South African side has ever produced. He is called Mr. 360 for the way he adopts himself with respect to the formats. AB de Villiers has represented Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, but did not win a title even once. De Villiers has amassed 5162 in IPL at a stupendous average of 39.70. He has aggregated 40 fifties of which 25 half-centuries have come in winning cause. AB de Villiers is ranked at number five in the most fifties scored by a player in winning cause.
