The most awaited contest of the World Cup is set to take place as the favourites India take on their Arch-Rivals Pakistan in match number 12 of ICC ODI World Cup 2023, at the world’s largest venue in the form of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on October 14, 2023.

India enter the contest on the back of strong performances in the two games. First, they defeated Australia in Chennai by six wickets, then, they defeated Afghanistan by a massive margin of 8 wickets and 15 overs to spare while chasing a target of 273. They remain unbeaten in the tournament, with 2 wins in 2 games, they are placed third in the points table just below South Africa and New Zealand.

Virat Kohli is among the runs for India as he has so far aggregated 140 runs at an average of 140 including two fifties while Rohit Sharma has scored 131 runs including a century and KL Rahul has scored 97 runs. In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah has been impressive with 6 wickets to his name in 2 matches while Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja all have picked three wickets each. India has a record of not losing a single game against Pakistan in ODI World Cups and will look to carry the winning run.

Pakistan, on the other hand, will head into the game on the back of two wins in Hyderabad. They first defeated the Netherlands in the first game while in the second game, they not only won the game but did that in style by registering a record chase of 345 runs in a World Cup game. Mohammad Rizwan was brilliant in the chase, scoring an unbeaten 131, while Abdullah Shafique, who loves to play against Sri Lanka, continued his rich vein of runs against them by scoring a sensational century before getting dismissed on 113.

In the bowling department, Hasan Ali was the pick of bowlers as he has justified his selection by picking up six wickets in the two games so far while Haris Rauf has accounted for 5 wickets so far. Pakistan have never defeated India in the ODI World Cup history and will hope to produce a different result in the upcoming game.

Narendra Modi Stadium Pitch Report:

The pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad offers a great balance between batting and bowling, with spinners having an advantage. Fast bowlers will need to be accurate to avoid being punished by the batters. Spinners will find some assistance from the pitch, especially when the sun is shining. However, as the match progresses and dew sets in, batting becomes easier and batters can play their shots freely.

Narendra Modi Stadium ODI Records:

In as many as 27 games played here at this venue, the pacers have taken 216 wickets at an average of 33.18, while spinners have taken 118 wickets at an average of 39.93.
