Cricket West Indies expects reciprocation for touring Pakistan

The West Indies cricket board is expecting reciprocation from the Pakistan cricket board for touring Pakistan later this year. Cricket West Indies had earlier confirmed the news of traveling to the cricket estranged country to play three T20Is in November this year. It has been reported by Geo.tv that a close source has revealed that West Indies now expects Pakistan to tour in the near future. but to make matters worse Pakistan’s schedule looks jam-packed in the coming time.

PCB had earlier convinced the Caribbean nation to tour Pakistan in a bid to bring back international cricket. Apart from Zimbabwe, no other side has visited the asian country since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in the year 2009. A World XI side comprising some big names visited the country for a 3-match T20I series earlier this year.

“We can only tour West Indies in 2019 but CWI feels that it would be too late, so we are looking at other options,” said an official of PCB. Options being discussed, according to the official, include giving financial compensation to the West Indians for touring Pakistan. “We have suggested that an amount will be paid to West Indies for the tour but CWI will pay the same amount to PCB when PCB visits West Indies,” said the official.

“Proposals are also on the table for a one-off series,” he added.  Earlier, it was reported that Sri Lankan cricketers won’t be traveling to Lahore for the third T20I of the 3-match series against Pakistan. Lankan skipper Upul Tharanga and veteran pacer Lasith Malinga have ruled themselves out of the game due to security concerns. But the Sri Lankan board were desperate to find a strong XI as they had committed to the PCB few months back.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi said the reservations would be addressed. “I have spoken to the SLC head and he has given me the assurance that the team would tour,” Sethi told the media upon his arrival from Auckland after attending the ICC Board meeting.
