The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has run out of patience with Sarfaraz Ahmed and sacked him as the skipper from Tests and T20Is with immediate effect. The 32-year-old has also been dropped for the upcoming tour of Australia, scheduled to get underway in the first week of November. Misbah-ul-Haq, the coach-cum-selector, was reportedly not happy with Sarfaraz and had a chat surrounding the issue with PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan.

Even as Azhar Ali has been given the captaincy mantle in Test cricket, Babar Azam will take charge of the T20I unit. The decision to sack Sarfaraz came after the Men in Green lost the three-match T20I series versus Sri Lanka 3-0 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan fast bowler, reckons that Sarfaraz has only himself to blame as he previously told the keeper to pull up his socks. After the new appointments, Babar and Azhar were showered with wishes from the Pakistan cricket fraternity.

Meanwhile, India’s third Test versus South Africa in Ranchi is scheduled to get underway on Saturday, October 19. The Indian cricketers posted some pictures from the practice sessions. Hardik Pandya uploaded an adorable picture with his mother. Saurashtra fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat turned 28 years old and he was lauded by his mates on the auspicious occasion. Alan Wilkins was shocked after Singapore beat Scotland by two runs in the opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers.
