Australian opener David Warner remembered his former teammate late Phillip Hughes after reaching 63 during his innings on Monday. He looked skywards after running three runs which took him to the score which Hughes got in his last innings on 22 yards. November 27 marks the third anniversary of the tragic death of a talented cricketer of Australia when cricketing fraternity was left shocked after the incident. Warner also became emotional during that period and the team is clearly missing their friend even after three years.

Australia were on the cusp of victory on the final morning of the first Ashes Test against England. The overnight batsmen Cameron Bancroft and Warner came out to bat wearing the armbands on their jersey which had written PH on it and paid tribute to Hughes. Even the commentators on air remembered the cricketer and the crowd loved the gesture from the left-handed opener lauding him after the replays were shown on the giant screen at the Gabba.

Phillip Hughes was hit on the unprotected part of his neck below the helmet exactly three years ago during the Sheffield Shield season. The bowler Sean Abbott bowled searing bouncer to the batsmen and Hughes fended at it a little bit awkwardly and crashed on the ground straightaway after being hit. He was soon taken to the hospital and even after the efforts of the doctors he passed away leaving the nation and the cricketing world shocked.

Australia gave the perfect tribute to Hughes by winning the first Ashes Test of the ongoing five-match series on the third anniversary of his tragic death. The openers David Warner and Bancroft added 56 more runs which were required to seal the game. They didn’t look in any trouble and easily romped home against a listless a bowling attack of England. They chased the target of 170 with all the wickets in hand in the first hour of the final morning of the Test match. Aussies would love to continue playing the same way and regain the urn in the process.
