Mahendra Singh Dhoni is renowned for employing a calm and collected approach and hardly allows the situation to unnerve him. He hardly gets overawed by the heat of the moment and doesn’t get impulsive. When it comes to making decisions, there’s no better person than MS Dhoni himself as he has exhibited throughout the entire duration of his illustrious career.

When it comes to the much-debated Decision Review System (DRS) the former Indian skipper has mostly been spot on with his decision making. He displayed the same during South Africa’s run-chase at the Wanderers, Johannesburg in the rain-curtailed contest. The incident panned out after the resumption of play following a spell of heavy downpour.

The cool head of Dhoni

South Africa lost Aiden Markram after which rain halted play for quite a while. Nevertheless, the game returned with the revised target being 202 runs off 28 overs. They resumed their innings with the score reading 43/1 in 7.2 overs. One ball after the rain-delay, Jasprit Bumrah dished out a delivery which whisked past Hashim Amla’s outside edge.

However, there seemed to be a definite noise when the ball passed the willow. Subsequently, the Indians along with keeper Dhoni appealed vociferously. However, Aleem Dar didn’t raise his finger. After a small chat, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli looked confident and wished to go upstairs, but Dhoni nodded his head in denial.

Replays and Snickometer showed that there was definite daylight between bat and ball and the spike in the snicko triggered during the ball’s connection with the pads. Subsequently, Dhoni helped his team save the review. However, India couldn’t save themselves of a defeat as they slumped during the Proteas run-chase.

The bowlers, especially Yuzvendra Chahal was taken to the cleaners and Markram’s men bagged their maiden victory of the series with 15 balls to spare.
