The 2018 Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast in Australia recently came to a close. The Indian contingent has been stupendous in the games as they have managed to bag a staggering 66 medals, which included 26 golds, 20 silvers and 20 bronze medals. Meanwhile, this was their third most successful campaign in the games.
The mixed-doubles squash team of Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghosal have performed exceptionally in the event and qualified for the gold-medal game. They faced the Australian pair of Urquhart Donna and Pilley Cameron on Sunday. However, the Indian pair has been beaten black and blue and they lost the game in straight sets. Subsequently, they had to be satisfied with the silver medal itself.
Deepika also managed to bag the silver medal in the women’s doubles when she and Joshna Chinappa bowed down to the New Zealand-pair of Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy in straight sets. The expectations were high from the Indian, but she didn’t let her fans down. On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik, the husband of Deepika, has been awestruck by the performance of his better half.
Karthik, who is also the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has been following the games as an ardent fan and he didn’t miss out on the opportunity of wishing his spouse. Prior to the event, Karthik wished Deepika with a series of tweets. After her stupendous show, Karthik again took to Twitter and dropped a heartfelt message for the squash-player.

Dinesh Karthik has recently been appointed as the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been impressive with the willow, but his team has slumped to defeats on a couple of occasions in four matches. The Knights face the Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming game at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.
